A month has passed since my previous entry. We laid low for a while, and spent Xanesha’s vast fortunes on magical gear. I’m pretty confident that if she came back, we’d now be able to stand our ground much longer before being routed. I personally picked up a weapon more fitting my kind, an ornate copper morning star that drips a lovely corrosive acid.
After alerting the mayor of Magnimar to the threat of Xanesha, he was grateful enough to send up on a poorly financed mission to investigate problems at Fort Rannick. Apparently the good folks of nearby Turtle Back Ferry haven’t heard from the Fort Guards in a while, so the Ponies were sent over to check it out. Uneventful trip.
The Ferry-folk are a bit stuck up for my tastes, especially their mayor, who is also the town cleric. Unfortunately he was a cleric of about as boring a deity as you can find…farming, community, family, etc. Not a people predisposed to majesty, but perhaps in my time here, I can teach some about the great Apsu and the other Dragon Deities. Little more interesting was this floating casino named “the Paradise” that sank a few months back. After truth zoning some farmers, we discovered Lucrecia, the sister of Xanesha was behind it. Looks like she got the towns folk addicted to gambling then sacrificed them all in one go. Clever. Terrible, but clever.
Kali and I decided to dive down and check out the wreck, which everyone else said was a bad idea. In hindsight, it turned out being a pretty bad idea. We were attacked by a huge gar fish, and a couple dolphins and a shark later fought our way out of it. Apparently the fish was some sort of local legend, so maybe by killing it we’ll be a little more famous. Also, Kali Bahn is terrifying, seriously, don’t piss that dude off. Those claws really come in handy though, maybe one day…
Anyhoo, we wound up confirming our suspicions and setting out for Fort Rannick. On the road, Black…whatever, the goblin, helped us rescue a trapped cat and didn’t even *try* to eat it, little guy’s come so far. Unfortunately, it looks like someone bigger was planning to… I’m sure we’ll sort this all out.
