After the horrors of the metal chirurgeon’s room my chums and I moved on to what looked like an a room for the sick or recovering. A lot of beds… and TWO METAL BEASTS!. A shiny one attacked Vayu, a brown one with a skin of armor attacked me. We got smacked around pretty bad but in the end, Maxwel came through – as always – and we killed the clankers.
In a liquid filled tube against the wall in the infirm… infirmar… infirmatorium we found a guy floating, attached to all kinds of tubes. Nasty. 10lo figured out how to release him and he flopped onto the floor like a big, dead, fish. He was pretty loopy when he came to. Couldn’t understand a word he said and he had this weird metal tendril sticking out of him. We wrapped him up in sheets and I slung him over my should to haul him back to town.
We sacked the room and found a couple of healing potions, a scroll of protect from some sort of magic I’ve never heard of, radreemaktion I think (?), a scroll of technomancy, I heard of that one, a scroll of unseen servant, and a wand of magic missile. Mmm… missiles. We also found a pack with the monogram K.B. and realized that the dude from the tank must be the dude we’re looking for.
We made our way back through the caves. It was up to me, of course, to make the swim out with Kahner. Sheesh! I’m not sure where most of my chums grew up, but it seems they all went to dainty, dandy, I-got-no-athleticism school. I put a mostly water tight bag over Kahner’s head. Made the swim, no problem. I’m pretty handy like that.
Back at Torch we went to Kahner’s house. Kelmaa found his daughter, Val, at the forge. When Val got back to the house she saw Kahner and burst into tears. He was still catatonic but she didn’t see the weird metal tendrel. I went to get a priest. Joran Kyte’s had to have some healing skills for this. He suggested we we bring Kahner to the temple and so I obliged… like a freakin’ pack mule.
And finally, it was drinkin’ time! For free! At the Kahner Bayne’s tavern. We’re awesome rescue dudes and deserve rewards.
