We’ve managed to make our way into a brick room with tile floors covered in grime and dust. Lincoln was the first in triggering a pressure plate which fired arrows. Better him than me. I easily detected the triggers for them but missed the trapdoor just beyon and fell down a 30 foot trench full of spikes. On mouldering corpses down the hole I discovered 16 shins and shiny numenera helmet.
The others got me out of the pit with a rope and after identifying the helmet, Zaphs tried to nonchalantly steal it! It is a smooth helmet with an octagonal shaped widget on back. It projects an interdimensional tentacle. Very handy! I nearly had to yank it off of Zaphs’ head. She’s a cruel thing.
Lincoln jumped the pit and stepped on another panel. A rock dropped on him. Again, better him than me. He dusted himself off and we followed him across the pit with a rope around us. I made the jump… barely. Lincoln peered through the broken door beyond the rock at the end of the hall into a square room that was plastered walls and tile floors. A storage cabinet and a table were in the room. Nothing of note there after using the tentacle to probe around at Zaphs’ “suggestion.”
The next room to the south had a fine stone sarcophagus, several chests and broken pottery urns. We examined what turned out to be Starlaset’s sarcophagus. The room was covered in beautiful inlaid and painted stories of her life and her great beauty. We opened the sarcophagus and nothing but a mouldering corpse.
We returned to the trapped room of death, avoided another hallway trap to the north, and found a room with a locked chest and a shield on the wall. I opened the lock on the chest, moved aside and opened the chest and plasma death sprayed out. Good thinking moving aside. Lincoln took the shield and Zaphs found a secret passage behind the chest. It was full of spears shooting out of the wall on a pressure plate system. We ran that gauntlet one at a time and came out mostly unscathed.
The next room was full of smashing doorways and old blood stained walls. An ancient corpse laid curled up fetal in the corner. I risked a jump through doors and got smashed, but noticed the delayed timing while reopening and suggested the others use the corpse after we tried a few lighter objects. Zaphs got smashed trying second door but we all survived.
We’re now at the end of a rope… literally. It’s hanging through a hole in the ceiling in this smashing door rom and has a rubber ball on the end. Curiouser and curiouser.
