*thwip* *thwip* *thwip* *thwip* OW, DAMMIT!
That’s what it sounds like when you get hit by four arrows from out of nowhere. I haven’t been adventuring in a while – that hurt. I’d forgotten about the pain – the most damage I’d been dealt in a while was self-inflicted paper-cuts.
I turn to face my attacker. Is … is that Shalelu? From Sandpoint?
Not wanting to be further injured, I go invisible. These constructs from our past are troublesome, but dispatch-able.
Soon, the dust settles. I’ve noticed that those odd chirps have gone away, only to be replaced by what seems to be the faintest of whispers. We continue on this damned path.
We’re not sure where, but all of a sudden, all of us (except Firfus) are overcome with fear, and have this overwhelming urge to turn and run. By the time the fear eventually subsides, Firfus is nowhere to be found. Kali flies off back up the path, leaving me with the two unfamiliar party members to return on foot.
While we don’t *see* Firfus, we do see two old ladies. Something’s off. I’m comfortable with heat, being a Fire Elemental Bloodline Sorcerer, but it’s uncomfortably hot. And it appears that everyone is in agreement. What to do? Well, we all disrobe.
Of course, when at our most vulnerable, the two old women reveal themselves to be lamia. The ensuing battle is swift and ferocious. I finished one off with a dose of magic missile, and Asunagok, the great winged creature, finished the other.
