Leaving Fort Awesome (a way better name than Aldrenard’s Grave) we got to the river on our way to Scrapwall. We had to ford it and it wasn’t easy. Kelmaa rode on my back for the first leg. Jacques and Vayu didn’t have it so easy and nearly drowned. 10Lo saved them. He seems to work like a walking anchor in water. The second leg was easier. I swam across with a rope and pulled them across.
We finally arrived at Scrapwall. What a dump! Literally. It looks like a trash heap on an earthen mound. There are garbage buildings about 30 feet high or more. On the right side of the mound was a big dish looking thing with a glowing red light and a weird fog bank cascading down. On the left of the mound appeared to be a road to the town. We checked out the right side first. The mound looks dangerous here. Likely a place for the undead. So we headed left after our quick jaunt to the right.
At gate of Scrapwall I smooth talked a guard telling him we were looking for someone. He brought out his captain Sevroth Slaid. She’s an intimidating woman… and it’s not often I, of all people, say that. She took us to her office to interrogate us. She told us she used to be the leader of a gang, the Steel Hawks. They were once the the most powerful gang in Scrapwall before the Lords of Rust and the Smilers. She would like to be that powerful again and she asked us to take out Birdfoot, her usurper, for her. If we do that, she’ll help out finding Denvya, the woman we’ve come looking for on the northwestern side of town in a dead-end gorge.
Sevroth also gave us some advice for getting along in town. Told us to keep the bag of Smiler heads to ourselves for now. That we need to gain “scrapworth” to get taken seriously and the fog we saw is supposedly haunted. The big dish receives “power”, whether that’s magic or not is beyond me, but it seems to have stopped at the same time we broke the warehouse dish back in Torch.
So, we went to find a place to squat and meet some of the local people. We came across a group of young orcs playing a dice game that Jacques thought he had a good chance of winning and gaining cred with. They called him out as a cheat and were having none of it. Then they wanted to wrassle us and attacked. Jacques got smacked around a bit, but the rest of us took them out BRUTALLY. Once I flew into a rage unhinged my arms my first target pissed himself before dying. I’m scary now, I guess. We left one alive and he instantly became out pal. His name is Mak and he’s a Steel Hawk (which might come back to bite us on the ass). He pretty much handed over his squat house on the western “wall” of Scrapwall since we killed nearly all the others that were living there. Mak might be able to get us a step or three toward confronting Birdfoot.
We spent our first night in our new squat. I woke up feeling stronger than ever, almost like I can shoot missiles from my fist!
