Gears of War

On to keep our promise to Jorum to find Dinvaya. The path is a route the group has gone before without me, where they’d encountered ran into a gearghost. Unsurprisingly, it’s still there.

We manage to blow it up, hopefully for good this time, and continue on our way. Off the path, we come up on 4 smilers fighting 4 ratmen. The ratmen are bleeding and looking worse for wear. We have an opportunity to simply bypass this skirmish, and take the rare opportunity to do so.

Further ahead, we briefly see the tail and other traces of a rust monster – and it stops us in our tracks. Thankfully after a bit of waiting, we feel good that it had continued on its way, oblivious to our presence. We keep going, and notice streeturcshins in the heaps above us. They would have attacked us, but recognize us and slink away.

Our scrapworth is increasing.

I notice a little alley off to the west, like some sort of hanging valley. We go check it out, but climb up to top instead of going along the path. Of course, I needed assistance.

Spiders! Giant spiders! Vayu gets bit and looks to be poisoned. One of the large ones by Vayu is dead, and since things safe(r) I run over to him to heal him. Unfortunately, baby spiders (only fist sized) crawl out on me! Six of them manage to bite me, but being so young their poison is weaker and doesn’t affect me. Not only that, but it’s such a weak dose that I’m able to build immunity to this breed! Sarenrae be praised! I again heal Vayu, ignoring the babies on me. Tenlow mage hands them off me while the rest of the party slays the monstrosities.

Now that the fight is over, we can examine the wall in front is that has created this deadly dead-end. It’s made of spinning gears and in the middle lies a set of double doors. Aakpesh bashes off lock, and doors open inward. We head in.

We’re shortly greeted by a trash golem! I cast Bull’s Strength on Aakpesh to help quickly quash our greeter. Soon thereafer, we meet Dinvaya! We relay Jorum’s “come home, it’s safe now” message, and she seems overcome with emotion. We offer Dinvaya our services as escorts through Scrapwall, and tell her about our deeds at Aldernard’s Grave / our new home base.
