Wow, so, uh yeah. Guess I zoned out real hard there for a bit. Well, more like hyper-focused. Sometimes, they’re one and the same. You know, once you start some things, you just can do nothing else until you finish them. I just kinda put on my hypergoggles at that dingy hideout, forked a codebase, and refactored it.
You can imagine my surprise when I took them off and was greeted by the glaring sun. Ow. Stupid outside.
At least while I was being productive, the crew too – they were herding dirak at the spaceport, earning a ton of astrobucks – more than enough to rent a shuttle to get us to those coordinates we got from the dead girl (Leya Bogana).
We get our ride (oh man, the guy at the counter was suuuuuper boooring), plot our course, and spend two kinda stinky days in our little space cessna.
As we get close (~100km) our sensors start to ping – they’ve picked up a very low power level reading. As we close, we start to see a shape 60m long, 35m wide. Still a very low energy reading – must be the barest minimum of juice running through it.
When we get close enough for decent visuals, I do a bit of SpaceGoogling – the ship is registered in New Terran, and her name (for now) is the “Redshift Rapture“. She at least looks nice from here – maybe we can name her Slepinir 8? Or, Sleipnir ∞?
Kit and Silas EVA over, while the rest of us watch through their helmet cams. Looks to be some buttons on the side of the outer seal, unpowered. But, there looks to be an interface port – and where there’s a port, there’s a way. They plug a relay cable in, and Kavita figures we could create and inverted surge of power and maybe deliver enough juice to power the door.
I give it a jolt, and woo! The screen lights up! The keypad displays numbers, and through the same cable I’m able brute-force the combo (and write it down) and get the door open. There’s some (probably stale as shit) atmo in the airlock, and they climb in. Silas gets the emergency lighting on and some panel lights too. The panel has three button: red (evac, currently lit), yellow (neutral), green (pressurized).
Silas closes the outer door, and engages the green button. The airlock pressurizes, and they open the inner door.

1 XP for you!
And it’s Redshift Rapture. (I had changed the name on subsequent versions of the illustration.)
