Pounding out aggression turns into obsession. Cannot kill the battery.

Posted on February 9, 2017 in Iron Gods by dubtea

One of these saw-handed machines starts moving again, and Aakpesh beheads it – that should do it. But, it doesn’t. Aakpesh eventually opens up the chest and severs the battery. Looks like these robots are self-healing, to a degree. Something to remember.

Because we were momentarily distracted by these machines of death, we forget to search and destroy any monitors in this room, and we pay for it. A monitor bursts with malicious and while others are shaken, I again am not. Thank you, Sarenrae. We destroy the two screens, and remind ourselves to be wary yet again.

One of the doors in this room opens to a descending stairwell, and it looks … foggy. 10LO and I notice that not only are the stairs and walls slick with moisture, but they also seem to be breaking down a bit, like the fog is corrosive and is eating at surface. This acidic fog is definitely magical. Aakpesh and Jacques, having a resistance to acid, decide to check it out. They return shortly, as they seem to just lead to a landing and more stairs.

We continue to the room to the North, and quickly shoot out the screens. This rooms has 4 purple pillars – they seem to be massive battery banks. Perhaps they were the power source of the hologram deck. Or maybe it used to store the power being beamed from Torch to Scrapwall? Whatever the purpose, it’s most likely something that Hellion very much doesn’t want to be destroyed.

We move to that curved secret hallway and Jacques throws an electrical bomb into the room. Nothing. After a moment, we hear a growing buzzing before a very bright flash. With a deafening crack they erupt at the same time. We return to check out the damage, and a it’s blown open a wall to the room behind it. There’s a grey sort of ooze in there, which grapples Aakpesh – not the easiest of tasks. We dispatch the formless “creature” with haste.

After returning to the Nalakai’s room, we find a journal in orcish next to a cot which 10Lo can read, to a degree. I help him with some of the linguistics and after a while we’re able to glean a repeated reference to something called the “Source” or the “Prime“. We decide to take a long rest here.

We also discern from the journal that there’s a recurring theme in prayers, and that Hellion’s primary goal is to destroy something his worshipers know only as the source or the prime. 10Lo studies this and is sure that the Source is located somewhere below Silver Mount. We haven’t been there before, but perhaps it is a giant crashed spaceship.
