So here we are, in a landing bay on Spiderskull Island Spaceskull Asteroid, getting eyed up by a pretty intimidating Slilan.
She looks at us, and shortly after one of us opens our mouth, she says to stop talking. She sends 2 in to board and search ship. Ki’ki is visibly agitated, very tense. Silas talks to Ki’ki, trying to calm her down. It doesn’t seem to be working.
We try to suggest a partnership or alliance of sorts, but she doesn’t seem very interested, and is probably [ ] close to having us do an EVA without spacesuits and just keep our ship.
*spoiler alert* We’ll never get to find out what sort of deal would have made her happy, as Ki’ki just climbs Silas like a ladder, throws herself into the air, landing on the ship. *roll for initiative*
WHAT. THE. HELL. KI’KI.
All hell quickly breaks loose as they open fire on us. iZac eye blasts a dude, and also hist a panel behind that guy that engages the airlock. Klaxons immediately start going off, and he effectively takes the bosslady slilan out of the fight because she immediately runs over to the panel.
One of these bad hombres looks at me, and I feel this crazy unpleasant tickle in my brain as a wave of minor pain passes by. Glancing over at our ship, I see Ki’ki skittering across ceiling of the bay towards some ducting. I take the opportunity to take some goddamn cover in our ship … which has two dudes in it. Kavita quickly joins me as I lock ALL THE DAMN DOORS in our ship to sequester the dudes in there. And you know what? As I go over my old log entries, I tend to do that a lot. It’s like I have some sort of weird door specialty. I should just start telling everyone I’m a portalmancer or something.
There’s a ton of fighting going on in the bay – I’ve hearing some sickening thuds. And here? There’s a guy on the other side of the airlock, bloodily beating at the door. And … I think he’s beating the door with his own arm? I know, not like he’s just punching the door, more like his arm got ripped off and he’s using it like a bat or something. Glad I locked the doors – I have exactly ZERO interest in fighting someone who’d beat me to death with his own arm. So, I take them out the Tor Valds Way™ – I vent the atmo from the ship. It’s better this way.
Aaaaaaaand crap. Kavita and I feel the engines fire up? Not ours, Spaceskull Asteroid‘s. There’s some alarm going off too – maybe it’s not the engines, but something a bit more problematic. Four gang members run into hangar in vac suits to the spacebikes – are they abandoning “ship”?
I get the feeling we need to get out of here too. After locating the other guy I unlock all the doors but his (he’s in one of the staterooms) and try to start warming up the ship. It’s not my forte, but time is of the essence.
Kavita says something sounds weird, and the ship’s outer door starts closing! I ask LB02 what’s going on, and she says that the Captain ran the command. That’s weird – I thought Silas was the Captain? LB02 says it’s Ki’ki. Wha? Ok, will need to address that later – for now I ask her to at least turn the atmo/lifesupport back on and she thankfully does.
With help from Kavita, we get the ship’s outer door back open. The rest of our party quickly gets in, and I close the outer door. I tell Silas where the last guy is, and he heads that way as most of us head to the bridge. Ki’ki’s already there, piloting. iZac offers to pilot, but she doesn’t budge – but we’d rather not let her have that much control. iZac is able to convince her though, and he gets in the chair while we get out of this asteroid.
Silas limps in, kinda slumps against a wall, and says “I love it when a plan comes together” as he lights a cigar. I smile – he kind of reminds me of a guy on my old crew named Duc.
Apparently the city we’re heading to – Xantha – is about 4 days off. iZac says that he can shave a day off of that target.
Now that we can all take a breath, we check out what we were able to scavenge from that hot mess in the landing bay. Kit-Kaaat took the really nice slilan armor from the bosslady (is there a nametag or something on the inside – we never got her name). We also find a nice pressure detonator that the group let me have – it’s a good weapon for a squishy.
DETONATION (PRESSURE) p. 349
Level: 7 (1d6 + 2)
Effect: Projects a small physical explosive up to a long distance away that explodes in an immediate radius, inflicting impact damage equal to the cypher’s level. Also moves unattended objects out of the area if they weigh less than 20 pounds (9 kg) per cypher level.
