Go into the water. Live there, die there.

Kiki’s been busy painting the cryo chamber as a medical or emergency capsule or something along those lines. It’s now white with gobban lettering in red. Looks legit.

Kavita runs through the processes to re-freeze Kiki. No pressure at all though, as Kiki glares at her and says “don’t fuck this up, the future of the universe depends on this” as she climbs into the pod. Kav does it though, successfully. The panel readout now lists bio parts, equip, etc. – a faked ledger.

There’s denser than expected Ares Marshal traffic. Remembering that the beacon is still disabled, I try to rename the ship to the Kobayashi Maru, complete with a new serial number and registration. And when I say “I try to rename”, I really mean “I completely kick ass at renaming” (NAT19 + 1 effort + madddd skillz yo). Looks legit as hell, electronically at least. We need to update paint on outside to match though, so it’s EVA time! Kit-Kaat does a good job on that front, too.

Also, there’s the issue of the bodies on board – two now former members of the Sons of Hera. I think we should just go the easy route and toss them into space, but Kit-Kaat has a better more fun idea. He thinks we should vent the atmo in the cargo hold, freezing them in the vacuum of space. Then we hammer them to shatter them into a bunch of smaller pieces and feed them into the reactor. Somehow while this should completely vaporize them – there are some small golden-yellow nuggets left. Is that … is that corn?

We’re hailed on comms, and iZac handles it – our cover story is that we have a delivery to an Alhuri named Athrol Zol. We get the OK to proceed to Xantha Starport, bay 723. We have a hefty escort of three Sol Defense and one Ares Marshal. Xantha is resort destination and a major port, so I’m not really surprised that security has been beefed up.

Equally unsurprisingly, as soon as we land a synth name Three-23 and three Ares Marshals walk into the bay. iZac again takes the lead. They board, look around, and after verifying the manifest, we’re free to go about our business. *phew*

Athrol is apparently a prominent martian xenobiologist here, specializing in gobban diseases.

In trying to remember how I last got to Aquaria Playland, a name pops into my memory and with it, a smile on my face. We need to get in touch with Ron Sturgeon, of Sturgeon Submersions. Ol’ Captain Ron. I call, and get this – his kid answers! But unfortunately, Ron (Sr.) died a few years ago. That’s really too bad – would have liked to catch up with him. We’ll need to meet up with Ron Jr. in person though, since he obviously doesn’t want to talk about Aquaria over insecure-and-likely-monitored comms.

We hop into a SpaceUber to Sturgeon Submersions. Over the quick trip, Kavita gets a callback from Athrol. Well, Athrol’s secretary.  Doesn’t really matter – it’s a dead-end. We’re also seeing wanted signs for Leya and Kiki – another reminder that we need to watch our words. We make it to Ron’s, and I have to say it looks nice – business must’ve been good! And Ron Jr. is a spittin’ image of his dad! And … Silas too? How did I not remember that? Ron says he remembers seeing photo of me – apparently his dad talked of our last trip. Ron’ll do this trip for 1,000 spacebucks. Done and done.

We still need to get Kiki to the sub, though. We need to rent a truck which’ll set us back an extra 150. Silas and Kit-Kaat cinch down the cryotube into truck and get there no prob.

This sub though? It totally looks like a pile of junk. Ron just says that she may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts. He’s apparently made a lot of special modifications himself – and had I not known his dad, I’d be more wary. When Silas gets back from returning the truck, we all pile in and get going. Ron wasn’t kidding, Lady Miss Yolanda is FAST – it only takes about an hour.

As we get close though, Ron says “oh shit” just before a thud hits the ship. Strap in! He revvs the engine back up to engage in some evasive maneuvers, only to get hit by a second thud. The engines whir back down. Ron’s “oh this isn’t good” comment seems a bit … obvious? The ships’ moving slower, and we’re hit again. Shrapnel bombards the cabin and I get hit, but thankfully my armor saves me. Captain Ron though? He gets a large chunk lodged in his head, and is instantly killed.

iZac takes the chair, gets control of the ship, and sets course for a nearby reef to hide. Our attacker’s in sight (well, on radar), and Kit shoots and misses with a torpedo. Kit’s better at hitting things he can seen, so I take the weapons chair, retarget the system, and fire asap. Right after the torpedo’s off, there’s another thud nearby the ship. A moment later we hear rather large boom on the outside hull of the ship and the sonar goes white for a moment. Seems like it was a hit.

Since we seem to be safe for the moment and I’ve been here before, I help iZac navigate to the Playland. Looking at charts jogs my memory. These new ones show that the main dome has collapsed. There is a bathysphere where we could probably surface the sub though – and do so without a problem. iZac seems to be a damn good pilot in atmo, space, and now water. Inside, there’s breathable air, but the dome has seen better days – there are busted/beached subs, small leaks, and mold/fungus. Kit gets the cryotube on the dock, and in front of us are large, locked doors.
