The defeat of this (quasi-) false god, Hellion, has brought me closer to Sarenrae, and she has bestowed a gift to me. She has elevated me to the position of Heirophant – and while this new position has brought me additional strengths, it may be time to reconsider some stances I have – particularly that of doing harm.
Sarenrae’s doctrines preach swift justice delivered by the scimitar’s edge to the remorseless evil of the undead and fiends and to the cruelties born in the hearts of mortals. To this end, Sarenrae expects her faithful to be skilled at swordplay, both as a form of martial art promoting centering of mind and body, and so that when they do enter battle, their foes do not suffer any longer than necessary.
Must I change my ways as a cost of sorts for my new gifts? I have drawn a fine line. While I only actively attack the undead/unnatural/fiends/constructs, I haven’t done so to others that are less corrupted. But, I have limited them or helped my friends in their endeavors to do harm. Who am I to think their ways are inferior to Hers? Council I seek, I pray that Sarenrae herself will guide me. Perhaps I should acquire her weapon of choice – the scimitar – and seek additional training within the group. It would not hurt, and perhaps in the meditation that training provides I will seek my answers.
Upon returning to town, we’re able to able to replenish supplies, and add to our gear. I pick up a nice little something for me ( a +2 Ring of Protection ) and a Reach Metamagic Rod for ( the benefit of ) the group. Also with this newfound position, I sell my crossbow and bolts, and buy a scimitar – the holy weapon of Sarenrae – and components to transform it to Masterwork. I choose to do this myself instead of having another do it – I’d like to think Sarenrae would prefer this. Bonding with her holy weapon. However, for the next stepI hire the weaponsmith at the foundry and have silversheen permanently applied. This weapon, The Dawnflower, should be worthy of one who carries out Sarenrae’s wishes. (Since my STR mod is -2, I see a belt of Giant’s Strength in my future, hopefully)
Your spells go farther than normal.
Benefit: You can alter a spell with a range of touch, close, or medium to increase its range to a higher range category, using the following order: touch, close, medium, and long.
Level Increase: Special. A reach spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level for each increase in range category. For example, a spell with a range of touch increased to long range uses up a spell slot three levels higher.
Spells modified by this feat that require melee touch attacks instead require ranged touch attacks.
Spells that do not have a range of touch, close, or medium do not benefit from this feat.
